La Coruna

Today our toilet broke. I sense the puns coming already…reported to cabin steward and promptly fixed. No harm done and nothing sat fermenting while waiting for it to be fixed…

La Coruna is a mish mash of building styles, both old and new and 70’s style council flats. A real mixed bag. We walked around for a few hours taking in the views, wondering why most places were closed and came to the conclusion that the tram lines were no longer used. Although it was only 12c it felt warmer when the wind dropped, but when the wind picked up, by Jove it was cold.

Back on the boat it was burger time and although we didn’t see an old lady sucking on one we did see a couple getting FIVE meals between them. I say couple, it was the wife that did all the getting. They ordered two creamy cocktails and she then proceeded to wander off to get two chicken wraps, two portions of chips and coleslaw. Then she vanished again and came back with two pizzas and two more portions of chips. But this was not enough so she vanished again and came back with a chicken burger and chips.

The funniest thing? They left one and a half wraps and the burger……people starving in Kenya you know!! (No, not the British Army…..)

During this time we alternated between being quite warm in the sun and freezing the proverbial off.  Hopefully as we sail further darn sarf the weather will improve. Right now it’s is rocky as hell. Good job I’m drunk to counteract the effects.

A hopeless panoramic shot of the room....must try harder....

At sea

Fairly quiet day, chilly, like home. Home, clinging on like a sad groupie, a professional limpet, a homeless person with a home.

Fully orientated ourselves today and found some weird…anomalies…Freeman to the rescue!!

Classic.

I say ourselves, I’ll still get port and starboard mixed up, Klingons! The promenade deck does not go all the way around, you cannot get to the front of the ship, I blame the terrorists.

The same applies to the top deck, starboard side seems to have rooms there, so you cannot walk around. Rude if you ask me, open your balconies!!

The pub, Brodies, is fantastic, screens EVERYWHERE. Excellent for football. Though I’m not sure about the pool table. It did bring much merriment to the people playing as the balls rolled around. The Killer Pool app does not support sea induced ball movement. Something Fuppets Inc should include.

Which brings me on to the weather again, cool but sunny with light winds and not much movement (for humans, pool balls…) as we sail 4000 metres above the Earth’s crust. Earth, haven’t we screwed that up? Homosapiens suck, which reminds me I was barred from bringing my ‘People, what a bunch of bastards’ t-shirt, apparently people might take offense.

Bastards.

I write this drunk on Stella, it has probably been changed by the wife. If it’s boring it’s all her fault, if it’s funny I beat her up and kept it as is,

Stella Wife Beater ftw!!

Oh, and Sagna so should have been sent off….

Typical

Missed out on getting a sunbed AGAIN.  Typical!

Michelle enjoys the summer sun.

Southampton

Set off from home at 10:15 and shaved 30 minutes off the travel time by 12:30. Some of you may think I was speeding to achieve this. I was not, I simply used a tear in time that the lovely Elizabeth created for me.

But enough spoilers.

We arrived in Southampton an hour before our check in time and then spent the next 45 minutes crawling in traffic, 4 cruise ships and the football over loaded the roads. Getting rid of the car was a breeze and then we had to wait to check in! Our assumption is that everyone turned up early and caused chaos. We eventually checked in, and then queued up for security and by the time we got on board and to our room we had to go straight to muster.

Still, nowhere near as bad as airports…

Few beers, evening meal, job done.

Note to self: When you have a dessert and they offer you custard, make sure to tell them when you have had enough, otherwise they just keep going with a bemused look on their face….

This morning we are traversing the Bay of Biscay with glorious grey skies and 10c temperatures. Lovely.

We know the temperature as a Frenchman told use over the speakers with a spot on parody of Allo Allo ‘Good Moaning’

To breakfast!!!

Best bit of pre holiday prep!

Ironing! Everyone loves a bit of ironing! Stood in the same spot for a good hour or two.

Can't humanity just decide that creases are cool?
